Decided to go Honda route in my Exige S1 back in July 2005 after getting a bit fed up of the rough low end nature of the highly tuned K series (approx 220bhp).Fine on track but not so good for road use.

Had heard good reports about the Maidstone Sportscars conversion so arranged to test both normally aspirated and super charged at Castle Combe.

First of all, I was very impressed by the neat installation, looks as if it could have come straight from the Lotus factory.

Decided to try the n/a first and was very impressed, easily on par with my K series but a lot more refined. Was expecting a kick at 6000rpm when the 2nd set of cams cut in but because of remapping power was constant right through the range only stopping when the rev limiter interrupted. Very impressed indeed.

Then the s/c car. Absolutely amazing. This is how the Exige should be. Not only very powerful but extremely smooth and importantly for me relatively quiet, as the car is used on road and on track. Castle Combe (my local circuit) has a very strict noise enforcement policy and the car was well within the boundaries both static and drive by. Then took the s/c car for a road test and again impressed how refined it was to drive in normal conditions.
After a pleasant day with Andy (Maidstone) and some of his team, I did a few sums and decided to book the car in for s/c conversion. Money was tight but the years complete installation warranty swung it for me.

A date was arranged and car delivered to Maidstone.

A few weeks later (couldn't wait! felt like months) had a call saying car was ready for collection. On collection I was shown what had been done and then taken for a test drive just to make sure I was completely satisfied. Great service all round.

Since the conversion, I have had the brakes upgraded (Eliseparts AP kit and Pagid RS14 pads) and done a few other little track type mods. Also ended up racing in the Castle Combe Special GT series where I finished 2nd in class in the championship last year. It was great driving to the circuit, racing and then driving home again (the commentators didn't believe this) and then taking the car out for a relatively leisurely drive the following day.

Car is fantastic on and off road, reliable, very economical in normal use (approx 35mpg) and my wife loves driving it. What more could you want.
